Waimea Beach on the Bay
Because of Waimea Beaches’ ever changing shape, it is by far the most interesting beach to visit. The winter surf takes the shap you came to love during the summer, and gives it a complete makeover. And then comes the summer to change it all back. This is all due to the ebb and flow of the high surf. For surfing, when it comes to utopia, well, here you have it. The winter brings swells of 25 feet and higher.
Waimea Bay is known world wide for it’s incredibly huge waves. Only the seasoned surfer dares to try these waves. If you are on the island during the winter, don’t miss the beautiful demonstration of man against nature. Lifeguards are on the beach daily so please, check with them before you go into the ocean regardless of the season.
The summer months bring relief, and get the island ready for another winter pounding. Also with the summer comes much rain, and because of that, the Waimea River erodes the beach and lets river water flow into the ocean creating a beautiful array of brown colored water. To round out your experience, Waimea Bay offers bodyboarding, fishing, snorkeling, and much more.
