Kokololio Beach is a long white sand filled beach along the shore of Laje Maloo Bay, not to be confused with it’s almost identical twin, Pounders. Here you will find a vacationer’s paradise in the way of a private, out of the way beach.
Although you will see that the north side of the beach it is bordered with homes, the south side is bordered by the beach park, and just 100 yards away is the Kamehameha Highway, the beach is quite deceiving. Because of the tall, highly vegetative dunes around the area, the beach is kept amazingly private. So, regardless of the seemingly active area, the beach is often empty except for the occasional fisherman and surfer.
The beach is perfect for swimming as long as the surf is low, and when it is high, you can see what the locals call the CYO, which is a surfing site, just off the end of the reef towards the south. However, because of the position of the reefs along the border of Laje Maloo Bay, the surf can be high year round, and with no lifeguards at this beach, always check with locals to find out the surf conditions.
If you are looking to travel to one of Hawaii's great beaches you may want to stay in one of the many Oahu vacation rentals while you are visiting.
