Kailua Beach looking towards Kaneohe
Kailua Beach is a moon-shaped beach that covers over two miles of white sand, and sports some of the widest area’s beachfront, from 50 to 150 feet. Overlooking the ocean, you will see a series of shallow sandbars. Because of these sand bars, you will find one to two foot surf breaks that are created by the trade winds. Also seen just a quarter mile off the beach, is a limestone island called Popoia Island, or better known by visitor’s as Flat Island. Here you can find surf breaks on the south side of the island, and a full array of park facilities, including life guards.

With this spectacular area also comes Kailua Beach Park, which you will find at the south end of Kailua Beach. For the ocean recreation enthusiast, Kailua Beach Park is a dream come true. It is one of Oahu’s best windsurfing sites because of the awesome trade winds that are there year round.
