When coming to Hanauma Bay please remember that you are in a marine life conservation area. This bay is absolutely worth exploring. It is located in Koko head, and has the shape of a horseshoe. The name Hanauma means curved bay. It has a beautiful sandy beach, and a shallow coral reef. Here, you will be able to find all the pleasures of modern day life with full facilities; these include a snack bar, snorkel rental, and a tram service.
There is even an educational counter from the University of Hawaii. The good people of the University provide hourly tours and handout flyers, all at no cost to you. You only pay for parking and entrance to the beach.
This particular crater reef is one of the most popular snorkel, and scuba diving points of the world. The reef and the deeper spots of the outer bay is now home to one of the most diverse populations of fish you will find.
When walking across the terraces, please keep in mind that when wet, the floors can be very dangers and before entering the beach, ask the lifeguards that are on site everyday if it is a safe to cross, always keeping safety in mind.
