Lanikai Beach with Canoes
Lanikai Beach is beautifully straight and wide with white sand spreading as far as the eye can see. When you look out over the water, you will see views of Waimanalo Bay, and two islands right off shore called Kaohikaipu, or known as Black Rock, and Manana, known as Rabbit Island. Rabbit island use to boast a large population of rabbits, but none of which can be found there today. Instead, both islands are now seabird sanctuaries, perfect for those bird watchers that come to Hawaii to see beautiful and exotic species. Another two islands can be spotted just off to the south, and these are the Mokulua Islands. These islands are also popular seabird sanctuaries, but only access to the beaches permitted.
